Secure disposal

Sustainable waste management for residue flows

Indaver is continuously trying to recover as many materials and energy as possible from the waste it treats. Currently, a number of waste flows cannot be put to beneficial use or treated. Indaver has a sustainable solution for these waste flows in order to prevent them from ending up in the environment or in the closed loop.

Physicochemistry: safe treatment of inorganic waste

Indaver’s physicochemical units for treating inorganic waste neutralise acids and bases, oxidise cyanides, reduce chromates and immobilise heavy metals. In the treatment in the physicochemical units, Indaver tries to replace as many primary raw materials as possible with residues from the thermal treatment. This way we save on raw materials.

Landfills: disposal as a last option

Storing waste (or putting it into landfill) is not ideal. But if reuse, recycling and incineration (with energy recovery) of specific waste streams do not appear to be possible, there is only one option left: the conditioned storage of waste in a landfill site. Indaver makes sure that disposal is carried out safely and that space is used efficiently and sustainably. The waste in our landfills is also a link in our waste-to-energy chain, as we recover methane, with which we can generate energy.
